Drusilla kept her eyes on the ground, determined not to look at him again. She could still see his face in her mind. He was beautiful, his smile was like an angel's. But how he made her feel wasn't angelic at all. She stared at the drop of blood that had fallen from her hand unto the floor before. Tainted.
"I'm sorry." She desperately hoped that he would never find out what she had to apologise for. "I should go. I--"
Wait. She looked up, her eyes making his and something at her core feeling as if she had been electrified. "Was it you? The rose?" Her blush deepened. "You shouldn't. Not for me."
"Like what?" Curiosity had decided to take over for her, which she instantly regretted. She pressed her lips together and looked at him, finally shaking her head slowly.
"Your outside doesn't match your inside at all. You are beautiful."
Oh, this girl was just catnip, pure and simple. Liam laughed, a giddy and somewhat disturbed little sound.
"Frightening. I like that."
Lying was fun sometimes, but in the case of Drusilla he was pretty convinced that sticking with carefully selected truths would be much more rewarding.
"You--" Drusilla wanted to say no, while part of her also wanted to step closer to him again. She wanted to run her hand along his face and that thought made her ball both hands up into fists, just to be safe from her own urges. "I can walk alone. You don't have to. It's not very far at all."
She closed her eyes, trying to strengthen all resolve. "I won't get lost."
Maybe she could stop herself from stepping closer, but Liam had no interest in suppressing any urges, and so the distance between them was closed all the same as he took a step toward her and bent down a little so that he could speak in almost a whisper.
There was no real need to do this, he just had a tendency to add a bit of dramatic flair to most situations he found himself in. Especially those that excited him.
"No. I'm good." She shook her head slightly in denial, feeling as if his body radiated heat like waves, entirely too aware of how close he was, even though her eyes were closed. Finally she opened them again and moved her hand, holding the rose he had gifted her out to him. "I'm very sorry, but I am not for you."
Drusilla crossed herself as she watched Liam, not even aware of the gesture, or else she might have realised that it was perhaps a little ridiculous. But her heart was beating fast and she wasn't sure what to say. "I don't want any man." It seemed stupid to call him a boy now. The whole thing was just a little surreal. "I don't date."
"I want to-- want to serve the Lord." It sounded strange saying it while looking at him, but Drusilla knew it was a test of her faith, of her conviction. Unfortunately, she felt as if she was failing it. "I'm sorry. I don't want to turn you to sin."
"Oh." Drusilla looked at him and once more the thoughts and images came unbidden. She finally let out a prayer and then turned around, running off as fast as she possibly could, although it seemed as if her steps still didn't go as fast as her heart was beating. How could she outrun something she carried along inside her?

His tone was cheerful and carefree, even as he licked some of Drusilla's blood off of his lips.
"Didn't you like it?"

He brushed his knuckles over her blushing cheeks, delighted that he could get such strong reactions from her.
"I want to do a lot of things when I look at you."

If that betrayed a very arrogant assumption about his good looks, well...
It was.

She finally tried to pull away from him, stepoing backwards. "I have to go home. My mother will be waiting."

"Why not?"

To actually make someone cross themselves to ward him off was new, but absolutely delightful.
"And again I find myself asking why not?"

His grin was wide and gleeful, even as he took a step back from her.
"I did that all by myself a long time ago."
