"...oh boy." Buffy looked at Spike and Drusilla and, well. He certainly hadn't exaggerated about what they were going to be doing. Dancing was really not the right term for it, she was just glad there were clothes in their way. "He doesn't do false advertising, does he?"
Still a better thing to focus on then how much she wanted Angel to touch her again.
"Have you..." Buffy aborted the question, both not sure what exactly she wanted to ask and also not sure if she'd want to know the potential answers. Instead she finally cleared her throat and looked away before she could be a hundred percent sure where all of Drusilla's and Spike's hands currently were. They put on a good show, but not one she needed to witness. She cleared her throat and smiled at Angel. "More intense party than I expected."
Angel laughed a little, quite happy to look at Buffy instead of the two lovers, even if it was not at all less charged.
"Me too. Cordy said I should... get back on the party horse again and this would be a good way to dip my toe in. I kind of feel like I'm in over my head already."
"Oh, Cordelia." Buffy couldn't help the little sigh, feeling that mix of emotion she always felt regarding her, only now mixed with an extra helping of possessive jealousy over Angel. Oh, great. "Perhaps she's not the best person to be giving you advice. Boy like you alone at a party, you could get hit on by all kinds of people."
A lot less so while talking to her though, so there was that. Selfish, but effective.
"Oh, I'm sure." Buffy smiled a little, more wistful than she'd want to admit to herself. "I'm sure you will have candidates for that lining up in no time. Just let me know if you ever need help with-- Riley!"
Why did she feel guilty, as if her boyfriend had walked in on something she wasn't supposed to be doing, when all she was doing was talking to Angel? Best not to analyse that. She quickly walked up to Riley, who was already straightening up to look taller and glaring at Angel, hoping that a kiss would help. "Hey, you. There you are, I've been waiting."
"Oh yeah. I bet you needed help defending your virtue." Riley hated Angel at least as much as vice versa and he had no qualms about showing it. Although maybe a few of them, after Buffy sent him a look over her shoulder.
"Hey. Get along, you two." Buffy didn't think it would happen, but it was worth a try.
Riley just huffed. Huffed and really wished he could dance, so he'd have a convenient way of getting Buffy away from Angel.
That was about as far as Angel was willing to go, and he was fairly sure that Riley felt the same.
The really shitty thing, however, was that Angel was pretty sure that he and Riley really could have gotten along if things had been different. It pained him to admit it, but the two of them were pretty similar. Maybe they could even have been friends.
"It will have to do." Buffy supposed she couldn't really expect anything better, especially seeing as Riley only reluctantly even nodded to agree to the no punching rule.
"What were you discussing?" Riley made a token effort, but he didn't manage to actually sound anything other than jealous.
"Nothing important," Buffy assured him before tugging on his arm, "Come on. Let's dance, boyfriend." She smiled up at him and while he wasn't much of a dancer, they still moved over to the dance floor. Buffy wrapped her arms around him and as she looked over his shoulder, her eyes found Angel. Of course.

Angel looked over at the dancing couple, trying not to think about what it would be like to be doing something similar with Buffy.
Preferably in a more private settings.

Said with a fond smile, though his eyes immediately widened in alarm when he realised what that might have sounded like.
"Not to hit on me. Just... to have other people do it."
Probably not better. Then again he wasn't the one who was already dating someone new.
Not that he was bitter or anything.

Fuck that guy.
"Buffy was just helping me get rid of someone who was bothering me."

She was so screwed.
